Houston G. Brooks died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in Somerset NJ. Born December 11, 1927 in Chester PA. Son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Houston G. Brooks Sr. He received his early education in the Alexandria, VA school system. He earned his B.S. degree from Storer College in WV; two masters degrees from Tuskegee University, AL, and Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He also earned his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry and Veterinary Physiology from Iowa State University. He was employed by American Cyanamid and Ortho Diagnostics as a research scientist. He served two years in the United States military, stationed in Germany.
He was predeceased by his parents Houston and Evelyn Brooks; a brother Rev. Henry Brooks. Surviving are his wife Willa Brooks; his children, Carl Brooks (wife Mary Ann); Roger Brooks and Alyson Brooks; grandchildren, Brielle and Jazmine Brooks. Surviving also are his brothers; Leo Brooks, Francis Brooks and his sister Nellie B. Quander; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were private. Arrangements entrusted to Gleason Funeral Home, Somerset.
